How Chorlton’s Beech Road independents are transforming to reopen after lockdown..

Driven by a strong community spirit, traders are working hard to get Beech Road back on its feet as lockdown restrictions ease.

The thing about Beech Road is that when the sun is shining, there’s nowhere else like it,” says Jennifer Wilcox from the Beech Road Traders Association.

The tree-lined colourful south Manchester street is renowned for its vibrant mix of independent restaurants, bars, cafes, and boutique shops.

There’s an overriding community spirit within this close-knit row of Chorlton traders.

Some activity has been happening on the road throughout lockdown with people strolling through for exercise, to pick up a takeaway or perhaps to nip into Ludo for some fresh bread or to join the queue outside the Co-op.

But it’s hard not to notice the shutters that have been drawn for some time and the empty seating outside restaurants, cafes and bars that would in normal times, be crowded and thriving. https://www.manchestereveningnews.co.uk/whats-on/shopping/were-cautiously-optimistic-how-chorltons-18326014
