We caught up with Jeff Glaister from Range Heating who has unbelievable knowledge and an awesome business!

Tell us a bit about Range Heating

I started Range Heating in Whalley Range in 2007. We mostly focus on heating system installations, but we do also do servicing, and complete bathroom installations too.

What would you say is the most important piece of advice when it comes to boilers?

Make sure it’s installed and serviced by a Gas Safe Registered Engineer so you know you and your family are safe.

What should people be looking for in a boiler?

Firstly, a reputable brand with their own team of repair engineers – we recommend Vaillant. Secondly, controls are the biggest money saver now. Make sure the controls can modulate the power of the boiler and ideally have your heating split into at least two zones to save energy.

How has the industry changed over the last few years?

In a bad way, there are a lot of poorly trained engineers around doing poor quality work – cheapest is often not the best. But in a good way, there’s more hi-tech controls available that can make a big difference to energy consumption. We have lots of customers now that can control each room in their home independently, which is great.

What do you love about South Manchester and what do you like to do in the area outside of work?

We love the diversity of the area, the number of parks and green spaces, and all the independent businesses. You will typically find me walking the dog at the water park or Fletcher Moss and eating out at some of the great local restaurants – San Juan is an all-time favourite!
