How we stand

West stretched their unbeaten league start to 20 games with Saturday’s 2-1 win against Stockport Town, but focus shifts to county cup matters for the visit of the Tigers. Chris Rowley’s side were successful in the Lancashire version eight days ago, edging out Prestwich Heys, and a similar outcome against Hyde would result in a first Manchester Premier Cup semi-final berth since the 2016/17 season.

Hyde pulled off something of a coup in August when they replaced outgoing manager Dave McGurk with Stockport County legend Jim Gannon. Despite this, the Tigers currently lie in the NPL Premier relegation zone and are one point off safety – though they enjoyed a timely win over Tameside neighbours Ashton United at the weekend.

West and Hyde last met at the same stage of this competition in December 2017. The Tigers ran out 5-2 winners on that occasion, with Ben Steer and Tom Bailey on the scoresheet for West at Ewen Fields.
