Whalley Range Lawn Tennis Club – Nov 21.

Hi Eddie,

I hope you are well?

Firstly, thanks for the new signs on the back of the tennis courts, they look very impressive and with them being numbered have helped extremely with the court booking system and visitors from opposing teams.  The Covid vaccination centre is still at the club and they are scheduled to be out by the 30th Jan 2022.

After their departure, the club will be doing a lot of refurbishments to improve disabled access to the front of the building from the carpark with a larger secure entrance to accommodate wheelchair access. We are also looking to make improvements in the garden area, with a pergola area near the tennis and clubhouse area.

Well after a competitive summer season in the Southwest Manchester Tennis league with both the ladies & men’s first teams being promoted back into division 1.

The remaining two men’s teams and the lady’s 2nd team remained in their respective divisions.

There are five teams in the Northeast Cheshire Winter league and so far, the first four teams are doing extremely well with the first, seconds and third at the top of their divisions and the fourth team in 3rd place. the fifth team are mid table and looking to reach the top by the end of the season.

Since lockdown began the tennis membership has nearly trebled with the currently 339 tennis members and a club total of 538 members across both cricket and tennis.

After 7 years Enrique our head coach has returned to Spain and taken a job in Madrid at an exclusive club and made this decision due to the offer and his family.

The new head coach Shikira Comrie-Walker has joined the team at the start of September and has settled in well into her role.

This was for the five teams in the summer league (Ladies 1st & 2nd and Men’s 1st, 2nd & 3rd) and the five teams in the winter league (5 teams consisting of 2 male & 2 female players).

Just to inform you, after any matches the balls are recycled and used for junior coaching and social play.

We do appreciate the help and support the club and the local community receives from

JP & Brimelow and we hope 2022 will be just as prosperous.

Stay safe and well

Ash Kaushal,

Chairman

Whalley Range Tennis Club.
