Longford Park Girls – 2022/2023 – Season Review.

I’m immensely proud of all of the girls. Not only because of the football they play and the success they have achieved this season, which has been amazing. But also, of the young women they are becoming and the love and support they give to each other. They’ve been together for 8 years and they epitomise the word team. Each of them should be incredibly proud of that.

We have had a momentous season. Following a tough start to life playing 11 a-side, the girls managed to win 28 out of a possible 30 points, finishing the season unbeaten and as champions. Then we managed to qualify for the cup final by beating 2 teams in the league above, and a third who were at the top end of Division 1. The cup final itself was stressful, with Lymm proving a talented and worthy opponent, but the girls managed to get over the line thanks to a resilient performance, an unbelievable goal from Imogen Wilson and a last minute goal line clearance from Ella Dempsey. 

But we can’t do it on our own. The group of parents we have are always supportive,  encouraging and deserve their own plaudits. As do Colin, Nathan, Gary and Jim who were instrumental in setting up our girl’s division all of those years ago. And finally, big thanks to Eddie at JP & Brimelow Estate Agents who provided our first ever kit and continues to support us to this day.
