MEET LEN

Len Grant - Urban Sketching

It was great catching up with Len in Chorlton over a cup of coffee. Len has been urban sketching for over ten years, having been a freelance photographer in Manchester for the last three decades.

Len is currently working on his fourth urban sketchbook. This one is all about the Manchester suburb of Chorlton. Again, he is writing stories to accompany some of the sketches and he's put it all together for a 96-page book, published in 2025 (he hopes).

You can follow his progress on his Instagram @len_grant

More news to follow with the book launch on Beech Road, Chorlton Green.

“I love sitting on my little stool on the street, drawing whatever is in front of me and chatting to whoever stops by,” says Len. “I think people like to see drawings of their local area… places that are very familiar to them but they’ve never seen as an artwork before.”

The Chorlton Sketchbook

If you love Chorlton as much as we do and want to support this incredible local project, now’s your chance. Order your copy of The Chorlton Sketchbook today and own a unique celebration of our community. A 104-page hardback book of Len’s urban sketches from this Manchester suburb.

Len has launched this crowdfunding campaign to raise funds to print a book of those sketches. It’s called Len Grant’s Chorlton Sketchbook. Supporters will effectively buy the book up front but won’t actually get their copy until October 2025. For a little extra you can have your name included in the book as a ‘backer’.

About the rewards:
There are two levels of ‘backer’: one for individuals and one for local businesses. The names will be printed all together at the back of the book. Once the target is reached I will send out a Kickstarter survey asking for the name to be included, and for your address. You don’t need to add those now.
