in the know

1st thing we need in our homes this month..

One of the greatest pleasures of being in this business is that we get a peek into so many homes, where we very often find ourselves admiring the decor and finding inspiration for our own homes. It’s like a living Pinterest board, and the number of times members of the team return to the office and immediately hit Google, to search out something they’ve seen and loved, just shows what good taste our clients have!

Here is the first of five things our team have found this month after finding inspiration in a home we have visited.

  1. We love these versatile baskets – pop them in the bathroom for spare towels or loo rolls, in the playroom for small toy fast tidying, in the living room for books, magazines and the remorse control collection, or the hallway for gloves and scarves. Handy and pretty, all in one place.

The accessories you choose for your home are often the most specific indicators of your personality. You may have a love of clean, simple lines and no clutter or just love the maximalist trend, with items you love scattered everywhere. We say anything goes, as long as you maintain a close eye on what house buyers read into it. Scandi may be marvellous, but atmosphere sells, so take care not to be too pared back and sterile – add scents, fresh flowers and the occasional splash of colour to give your home a homely feel. Maximalism is great, with colour and texture and interest everywhere you look, but keep an eye for that tipping point between fun and clutter. People need to be able to see what they’re buying and how they might live there themselves. Accessories to your heart’s content – but if you’re selling your home, take a moment to examine it with a stranger’s eye and make adjustments if you feel you should. Or ask our team, they can certainly help!
