Pick your own pumpkin patches near South Manchester..

Happy Halloween!

No, I haven’t gone mad, October will be here before you know it and the supermarkets will fill with enormous pumpkins ready to be carved into gruesome grins and grimaces. However, if you want your pumpkin preparation to start with a little more family fun than simply choosing one in Morrisons and flinging it in the boot, why not head out of town to a pumpkin patch to choose one in the wild, as it were.

We’re going on a pumpkin hunt… and here’s where we’re going to find them:

Libby’s Pumpkin Patch, Gawsworth, Macclesfield

Open dates: Selected dates from 4th ‒ 31st October 2025

What you can do: Libby’s offers a pick your own pumpkin patch with a relaxed, family-friendly atmosphere, and pumpkins of many colours. There are photo backdrops, refreshments, and a campfire where you can toast marshmallows. Pumpkins are home-grown and diverse, suitable for carving or for decoration. It’s ideal for families wanting to enjoy autumn outdoors without too many frills – and you can enjoy a wood-fired pizza before you head off home. They’re taking bookings now, so get in early to grab your slot.

Tatton Park – The Pumpkin Patch at the Farm, Knutsford

Open dates: 11th ‒ 31st October 2025 on selected dates only.

What you can do: Visit the farm to meet farmyard animals and then head out to pick your own pumpkin from the field. It’s a rustic patch, muddy and messy in the best way, so dress appropriately. Entry requires purchasing the standard farm/park admission, plus paying per pumpkin (£4 each), which means there will always be a pumpkin to discover. Afterwards head into Knutsford for a bite to eat at one of the many dining spots.

What you can do: This patch is in a “secret area” within their corn field. Grab a pink wheelbarrow and head into the corn field (it will tower above your child’s head, adding to the fun) and choose your own home-grown pumpkins of many fun varieties, sizes and colours. It’s free entry to the patch, you simply pay for what you pick – so don’t get carried away! Also lots of ice cream, shakes, waffles, a dessert menu and a maize maze challenge.
