Two great summer festivals near you..

Yay, summer is coming (we’re not counting May’s heatwave, the best is definitely yet to come) and with it the opportunity to dance the day and night away to some of the best bands ever, enjoy new and delicious street foods and spend time just having fun. How? At a summer festival, of course!

Here are two of the best family-friendly summer festivals nearby:

Brit Fest

Altrincham, 4-6 July 2025

Taking place from 4–6 July at Ashley Hall Showground, Altrincham, The Brit Fest 2025 claims to be Cheshire’s biggest summer celebration.

Festival-goers can enjoy one day or a full weekend of the best of British music, with keynote performances from:

  • Razorlight (Friday 4 July)
  • UB40 featuring Ali Campbell (Saturday 5 July)
  • 10cc (Sunday – North West festival exclusive – ooh, who could this be?!)

Joining them across the weekend are iconic names from British music including Midge Ure (performing a special 40th anniversary Live Aid tribute set), Thompson Twins’ Tom Bailey, Toploader, Go West, Republica, Chesney Hawkes, Tony Christie, Roachford, Blancmange, Johnny Hates Jazz, Hue & Cry, The Fizz, Let Loose, Shakatak, Incognito, Katrina and more.

You can also enjoy:

  • Fire walking (do you dare?!)
  • Mini golf (and why not?)
  • A world record attempt for the largest ever Hokey Cokey (count me in)
  • The Wellness Arena, featuring saunas, yoga, cold plunge and sound baths (maybe not the plunge…)
  • A vibrant Family Zone with rides, arts and crafts, and interactive workshops (yay, a family-friendly festival!)
  • Street food village and artisan market (love a good street food meander)
  • When Nature Calls luxury loos and pamper zones (phew!)

The Brit Fest was founded by Cheshire-based brothers Edward and Anthony Prophet. The festival is run by a team that includes more than 20 family members across three generations, and inspired by a desire to have a fabulous music festival attendees could get to using public transport if they so desire.

Tickets start from £55 per day for adults with Under 16’s £15. thebritfest.co.uk

Foodies Festival

Tatton Park, 11-13 July 2025

Oh, food and music – two of my favourite things. Foodies Festival is, obviously, very much about sharing a mutual love of food, but it’s not all about the food. As well as lie music all day, they have a great line-up of superstars to close the event every evening, plus

  • The Wanted 2.0 (Friday 11 July)
  • Blue (Saturday 12 July)
  • Symphonic Ibiza (Sunday 13 July)

Dubbed the Gastro-Glastonbury, Foodies Festival brings you a wide range of culinary experiences, from street food stalls to Michelin-calibre dishes. YOu can enjoy live cooking demonstrations from top TV chefs and personalities, including two-time winner of Great British Menu and 4AA Rosette-awarded Adam Reid, from Adam Reid at The French, at Manchester’s Midland Hotel; MasterChef champions Tom Rhodes and Simon Wood; Great British Menu winner Daniel McGeorge, from Vetch in Liverpool; Stuart Collins from must-visit Dicket Restaurant, in Whitchurch, and Great British Bake Off stars Gilly Howard, Dan Hunter and Hayley Tully.

You can also have fun with:

  • a silent disco (never tried it, want to)
  • fairground rides and family-friendly areas (another family-friendly festival!)
  • Street food stalls (count me in)
  • The Great Taste Market (shopping!)
  • BBQ masterclass on the Fire Stage (sounds like a spectacle)
  • A daily hot chilli challenge (nope!)

Tickets from £6 (child) and £21 (adult). Under 6s go free. foodiesfestival.com
